After a pulsating game Dave and Rob lost out in the final of the British Isles Pairs at Llandrindod to the English pair. |
League & Carruthers Results |
League wins against Knighton, Builth and Llandrindod were followed at the weekend with a win in the Caruthers at Gelligaer. A very close competitive game saw us win on two and lose on two rinks and scrape home by a narrow margin of 2 shots. We are away at Morriston United in the next round. Well done to all the players. |
Carruthers Sat 21st June |
The bus will leave Presteigne at 10.00am and pick up in Llandrindod at about 10.45. Llandod have their match scheduled for 2.30pm and will be dropped off first. The bus will then take us on to Gelligaer for our match to commence at 3.00. Best of luck to all teams |
LADIES LEAGUE MATCHES |
The ladies team have had an excellent start to their league campaign with wins away at Talgarth and Builth and at home against Knighton. Well done to them and keep on winning. |
TASTER SESSIONS FOR KIDS |
We welcomed to our green 26 children from the top class at Presteigne Primary School, for the first of four taster sessions, on Wednesday 4th June. They seemed to enjoy this and are looking forward to next week. The weather stayed fine throughout. Many thanks to the six coaches in attendance and to the regional co-ordinator Eddie Williams. |
Caruthers Qualification |
With wins against Rhyader and Brecon and despite losing to Talgarth we have qualified for the Caruthers. As yet we do not know who our oponents are but the match will be away from home. |
NEW CLUB COACHES |
Congratulations to Bea, Marian, Vera, Ivor, Bill and Brian in attaining their WBF coaching certificates. Our best wishes to all of them - well done. |
CLUB OPEN DAYS |
The Club are hosting 2 Open days on Sundays 4th & 11th May, from 1.30pm onwards. If you would like to see what bowling is all about, but have never picked up a bowl, why not come along to the green and have a try. Absolute beginners welcome - no age barriers - please wear flat bottomed shoes or light trainers and comfortable clothing. We look forward to seeing you. |
Green Opening Day |
The green will open for the new season on Sunday 13th April at 2.30pm. We hope that our club President will be able to bowl the first wood. Dress will be club tops please. We hope to have a good turn out - weather permitting. |
Another National Title |
Congratulations to Robert Weale, who together with his Islwyn Team-mates, Ian Butler and Gareth Wills, won the British Isles Indoor Triples Championship at Perth. Well done. |

David Weale has been elected mens Team Captain for this season - David will be assisted by Trevor Gummer who was elected Vice Captain. The friendly team captain for this season will be Trevor Joseph ably assisted by his good lady Monica. |

After a series of round robin matches the eventual winners of this years Mixed Pairs Competition are Rhiannon and Robert Weale. |
Ladies Singles Final |
Congratulations to Marian John on winning the ladies Singles Final today. Marian beat Beryl Williams 21 - 10 to win the cup. This is Marian's first singles title - well done. |

Steiner Cup Result |
The mens singles club knockout tournament - the Steiner Cup took place today. The final was closely contested between Robert and Brian Weale with Brian the eventual victor. This competition has records dating back to the early nineteen thirties and perhaps is even older. Our congratulations to Brian. |

The mens team won their final League game of the season beating Brecon and winning on three of the four rinks. |

The Mens team lost their match on Saturday with Llandrindod. Congratulations to Llandrindod who now recapture the Mid Wales League Title which Presteigne won last year. |
National Mixed Pairs Champions |
Congratulations to Robert Weale who together with Wendy Price from Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club won the National Mixed Pairs Championship yesterday at Llandrindod. This is the 9th occassion that Rob has won this title but it is the first with Wendy. We understand the final was a very closely fought affair. |
Eddie Gummer Trophy Result |
After a number of very competitive games the final was won by Ruth Morris and Bill Weale who beat Rhiannon and Robert Weale on the last end. The splendid barbeque was enjoyed by all and we raised £100 for charity. The trophies were donated by Mrs Gummer and presented by Trevor Gummer. |

The Mens team beat Spa today at Llandrindod winning on all four rinks. The Ladies team lost to Spa ladies losing on both rinks |

Paul heads for New Zealand |
Today sees the departure of Paul Garrett (little Pat) who has emigrated to pastures new. We wish Paul all the best in his new life down under. We believe the greens are a little quick there Paul. |
National Finals |
Don't forget that Toot, Trev, Glen and Gareth start their quest for the national final of the fours on Monday 13th August at 9.30am in Llandrindod. Then on Wednesday Trevor is in the U25's singles together with David and Robert in the pairs. On Thursday 16th Peter is in the O60's singles. Good luck to them all. |
